LHFC History

The Laurel Highland Futbol Club was founded in 1992 to provide competitive soccer to youth in the Cambria-Somerset region. The original mission statement of LHFC was to “promote high-quality, competitive soccer for developing players in south-central Pennsylvania.” From its start, the Club utilized a North Star Complex and a Richland Complex as the host sites for an In-House League, Junior High School League and Sunday Travel teams. Since its inception, LHFC has maintained membership as a PA West and US Youth Soccer Club.

In 1996, Fun City Kidsport, Inc. was created and purchased the former Ideal Park, which was located along Somerset Pike outside of Johnstown. The organization aimed to develop soccer fields for the areas fastest growing youth sport in the region. The Kidsport Soccer Complex provided the opportunity to accommodate the growing sport of soccer in our area by turning the old Ideal Park from an over grown, unutilized area into a vibrant athletic and recreational area.

In 1997 the Laurel Highland Futbol Club and Fun City Kidsport, Inc. were combined into a joint organization. The LHFC / Fun City Kidsport Organization has been served by countless volunteers since 1992 who have consistently advocated for the development of the sport of soccer and soccer players in the Greater Johnstown Region. Through our association with PA West Soccer our Club has hosted In-House Leagues, Sunday Travel, Classic Teams, Skill Development Clinics and have partnered with other local soccer organizations to provide opportunities for players aged children-to-adult to play the “Beautiful Game.”
